Soundness

Since the beginning of civilisation, wherein we first eked out comfort from the roughness of a hostile wilderness, we turned universally to the question of what it means for a thing or a person to be true, useful, and possessed of a deep structural integrity. We see this integrity as possessing orderliness—a cleanliness and neatness free of excessive paraphernalia, detritus, and clutter (i.e., good) which is pleasant for us to apprehend. This is as true for our general environment or global commons as it is for a semper idem (whether some identity or sum identity).

Invariably, we see goodness to be aligned with the natural world because it is the one place in which we are all able to divine a sense of awesome beauty. It is a beauty that is deemed to be self-evident and transparently what it is—an often terrifyingly harsh and demanding place—one in which we nonetheless seek truths concerning the reality of our nature.

There is a cyclicality and circularity to this question because it has been a long time since most of us emerged from the real wilderness. It now seems, in fact, that we are somehow immersed in a new, rather more complicated modern form of wildness. Call it chaos—one in which the organic and feral are in the midst of self-discovery within the bosom of a permissive secularism; an exploration of culture as defined by the person in the midst of some variety of experience. Even as the pathologically inclined do whatever they want and help themselves to whatever they like, while the indifferent turn away askance because it does not concern them nor their own children.

Meanwhile, we all bear the costs financially and in our sense of what it is to be wholesome and well. Notions of honour, reputation, and trust be damned—for none of us who have lived a long life can honestly be happy with what those things amount to today, given the damage we have collectively visited upon creation, both before and after the debacle that was the Great Financial Crisis with its standards of what constitutes trustworthy laid bare.

Look upon any person for just a moment without judgment, concerning the matter of what they need. A person must feel wholesome, healthy, and in good order. They must feel that they are sufficient in the present moment as merely an embodied, conscious thing which seeks to sustain itself with an essential vitality. This vitality is signalled by their presence as a unified identity possessed of physiological and psychological well-being. Moreover, they must feel that they are upon a vector which approaches, rather than diverges away from, alignment. However distinct or weird their personality appears against some contemporaneous standard embraced by the majority, they must yet feel embraced by society rather than alienated. For whatever they are and whatever they may appear to be, they are nevertheless an aspect or microcosm of creation itself.

This is a desirable quality. One we may call soundness—whether it is possessed in any given moment by speed or stillness. Whatever the volume of externalised noise emitted, it is at least optimally configured within the bounds of what is feasible and fair in currently prevailing circumstances. Another way to conceptualise soundness is that it is possessed of a kind of solidity—one which is not excessively dense, but instead possessed of a natural and organically appropriate sense of embodiment. If it should degrade, then it does so almost as though through a natural weathering process—an oxidation which protects and secures what is held within, rather than through some extrinsic growth which invades and consumes the body and the body politic—its capacity to achieve self-sovereignty through self-governance.

Ontology

As we seek to understand and model reality, we have at our disposal language as the primary utility. What I am endeavouring to do on this web application is to develop a platform which functions as an online utility at a fundamental level—as an ontology.

An ontology is a philosophical study of being, existence, and reality, as well as a computer-science framework used to categorise and connect data. We create ontologies so that we may understand a shared landscape of reality, whether material or on the social network as interpreted through the lens of what can only be a personal psychology. You may have heard the phrase life isn't fair, it's just fair game—a coldly calculating realism that separates the world into two sets: players and the played.

It suggests that opportunity functions as a scarce commodity, naturally clustering within walled networks. The members of these nodes rarely defend their privilege through merit; instead, they reduce their good fortune to a cold semantic reality—a simple binary of insider and outsider. They accept their inclusion as self-evident and self-justifying: that's unlucky for them, and lucky for me.

Good fortune, more than anything else, is a matter of opinion for the philosophical. But for the many, it is a notionally bounded space of reciprocated privilege and courtesy: the US dollar regime, a fraternal community, or a too-big-to-fail corporate domain.

It doesn't have to be that way. In fact, I argue that it cannot be that way. Not if we are to function as a single planet with a semblance of common purpose. Not if we are to forge some manner of concord which serves to sustain us indefinitely, ending the unfolding calamity of flood and pestilence afflicting our natural world order.

One is free to audit this ontology. What this amounts to in practical terms is simply validating it—assessing its legitimacy and credibility by visiting it and consuming its content personally, if one finds that to be a worthwhile endeavour.

This ontology represents the truth as I personally see it—developed in clear, deliberate, human language rather than compiled code. It seeks to function as an algorithm for aligning Alpha (individual success along a chosen path) with Omega (a holistically optimal outcome). That pursuit must inevitably pass through "left-handed" departure points (Beta), as unconventional paths now offer the only real frontier for discovering genuine opportunity outside mainstream dogma.

Regnum Dei

The core component of the ontology is Regnum Dei. Typically seen as the Reign of God, I translate it as Divine Governance—where "divine" retains its root sense of a search for truth_.

Truth (veritas) serves as the basis or foundation for a process through which we generate solutions or utilities (utilitas) to solve problems and manifest structural integrity (firmitas) in the real world. The ethical grounding for this process draws from Sanatana Dharma (popularly known in the West as Yoga or Hinduism).

In material terms, this has been an industrial process expressed through the millennia. One of progress marred by error. That error is something we must hold ourselves collectively responsible for. This we do by socializing the costs not the least of which by externalizing them into the atmosphere as heat and noise. This however cannot go on indefinitely; we are all accountable for generating real permanent solutions—each in our own way.

Regnum Dei is comprised of the three elements required to create systemic autonomous peace, order, and good governance across our social network. These are bona fide expressions of the following concepts:

  • Intelligence (Sine Qua Non): The animating principle—anima and animus—without which no model of reality can exist nor indeed can any reality itself exist.

  • Living Identity (Dial Square): If Semper Idem is the vessel then the work of life lived fully as an authentic persona processing interactions within context (community) and ecology (the Commons) is what is held within it as entirely unique.

  • Capital (E Pluribus Unum): Inputs valued for their utility in creative endeavours or by their beauty in the Global Commons.

The objective of any iterative process is to incrementally reduce error in order to yield an increasingly more productive outcome. But true error reduction cannot be measured by human metrics alone; Consensus must extend to all life, sentient and non-sentient alike through the application of reason through which an honest reckoning (price determination) is arrived. This is done by accepting a singular semantic perimeter defined as a closed loop consisting of the planet's energy and matter so that it may be comprehensively governed through transparently integrated market mechanisms.

Peridot

Peridot is the vibrant green birthstone for August. It is the gem-quality variety of the mineral olivine; seemingly possessed of an innate luminescence here in this ontology it is the title of a series illuminating key terms which have either emerged or have undergone a transformation in the way we use them such that a reminiscence of original linguistic intention and interpretation is worthwhile. Again these terms are explored through my own personal experience and lens.

Canonical

Canonical provides a comprehensive glossary of terms, framing foundational social science concepts within the specific parameters of this ontology. Additionally, it introduces original theoretical shorthand concepts designed to navigate and integrate contested ideas. These terms allow for the inclusion of perspectives that face significant friction or institutional marginalization within contemporary popular Western discourse, particularly by those aligned with hegemonic state and corporatist interests.
